Easy coupling and decoupling due to the control cam design in the male section. The coupling halves merge by themselves during the rotary movement. During decoupling, they automatically separate after the control cam dead point is passed - thus force needs not be applied.
Variant 1 is approved for PN16, applications up to 180°C. Variant 2 is approved for PN25, applications up to 225°C and thus can also be used with steam. Connection confusion is eliminated because the two series are incompatible.
The TD series designed for steam applications brings together highest safety requirements and easy handling.
To be able to cover the most various application scenarios, there are two variants of the TD dry disconnect couplings characterised by their material composition and thus their load-bearing capacity – version PN16 is designed for applications up to 180°C and version PN25 can cope with temperatures up to 225°C.
The basic principle:
TD series dry disconnect couplings consist of two coupling halves (male and female section), each fitted with a cut-off valve. To couple, the female section is placed on the male section and then turned clockwise. The male section is pulled into the female section by means of helical grooves arranged on its outside. After a 10 degree rotation, both halves are permanently connected. Only then a ring-shaped flow channel is opened (“Safety in design”) where the valve positions under spring load axially move relative to the valve seats so that the valve pair is positioned in the extended line diameter of the male section after a twist of overall 120°. During decoupling, the process runs in the reverse sequence. Thus an unintentional escape of hot steam can be safely avoided.
