How RESTAB™works
The telescopic lance is permanently mounted on a flange on the tank lid. In normal operation the retracted lance is in the gas space at the top of the tank.
Operation of RESTAB™
The user connects an
RS dry-disconnect coupling from the mobile tank hose to a fireproof pipe, and opens the nitrogen valve. The following sequence of events then takes place automatically:
- The pressure in the mobile container rises until it reaches about 1 bar. A burst disc then ruptures and the RESTAB fluid enters the connecting pipe and moves up to the lance.
- The pressure increases to about 3 bar until it moves a piston which releases the telescopic tube.
- The lance extends up to 10 m into the acrylate tank contents. It may contact the tank bottom with no adverse effect.
- The pressure rises to 4 bar until a burst disc on the end of the lance ruptures. The RESTAB fluid is then injected into the tank contents to stablise it.
- The diffuser head on the lance introduces nitrogen which thoroughly mixes the tank contents during the restablisation.
- After use the lance is retracted to the home position using a crank and a permanently mounted cable.
